The Brain Disease Centre invites you to an open lecture by Dr Florian Kurschus from the Heidelberg University Hospital, Germany entitled “The oxysterol sensor EBI2 in multiple sclerosis and inflammatory skin disease”. The lecture will take place on 25 January at 2 p.m. in the CMI building 3/DD/06.Dr. Florian Kurschus is an experimental immunologist with a focus on investigating inflammatory signalling mediated by the EBI2 receptor and IL-17 in multiple sclerosis and inflammatory skin disease.“ Currently serving as the Group Leader in the Department of Dermatology at Heidelberg University Hospital, Dr. Kurschus has held leadership roles at the Institute for Molecular Medicine in Mainz and the Max-Planck-Institute of Neurobiology in Martinsried. His extensive academic background includes a postdoctoral fellowship at the Max-Planck-Institute of Neurobiology where he researched mechanisms of cytotoxic target cell killing and a doctorate focused on autoimmunity in pregnancy. Noteworthy contributions in neuroimmunology include the development of the spontaneous relapsing-remitting mouse model of multiple sclerosis, co-recognition of MOG and Neurofilament M, insights into the plasticity of Th17 cells in neuroinflammation, and the exploration of EBI2’s role in the EAE model of multiple sclerosis. Join us for a lecture where Dr. Florian Kurschus shares his expertise and sheds light on the complexities of immunology.
