L’Oréal, in collaboration with the Polish Committee for UNESCO, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Polish Academy of Sciences, and the UN Global Compact Network Poland, has been administering the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women and Science scholarship program since 2001. The program aims to promote science among women engaged in advanced research and provide financial support to them.Dr. Aleksandra Rutkowska, PhD, serves as an assistant professor in the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology and is the deputy research director of the Centre for Brain Diseases. Dr. Aleksandra Rutkowska’s research focuses on developing a therapy that stimulates the reconstruction of myelin sheaths of neurons in humans. The primary goal is to create new drugs and restore individuals with multiple sclerosis and other neurodegenerative diseases to a state of full comfort. Her research in this field earned recognition in the postdoctoral category through the L’Oréal-UNESCO Fellowship for Women and Science.
